What I'm thrifting: JANUARY 2015

Here is a quick list of items I've been keeping an eye open for while thrifting lately.

1.  Anything Mini Boden for my son.  I actually found 2 tops yesterday for him in the next size up.  I may resell one on ebay.
2. Tops to transition into spring with.  Light weight, able to match skirts and pants I already own, and a bonus if it's something with a vintage feel.
3. Toys to resell on ebay.  I've been keeping a look out for Little Einstein items, they get attention from bidders.

Thrift Finds August 25th

We went two times to the Dayton Goodwill, the last time being the 25 of August. I wanted to share 2 items I found on these trips. The first are a pair of Converse for my 10 year old son. They are in amazing shape and were 5.99. I picked them up because of the condition and that they are the size Keaton is wearing right now. Not to mention Batman!

Next is a Cynthia Rowley purse in my favorite color. The color is what caught my eye first in the thick group of pocketbooks. I liked it's overall look and figured it was worth picking up for it's price of 5.99. I'm definitely going to be wearing it in fall and winter.

Here is my must-find list for thrifting this March.  We had a mellow February, it seems like the Goodwills near us have less and less toys. Luckily it's almost yard sale season!

2. Dresses for me, lightweight, small floral print
3. A couple cardigans
4. Anything Mickey Mouse clubhouse
5. Flower pots
6. Disney items to resell

What I'm Looking For- January 2014

1. Nintendo games for my boys
2. Clothing for my sons (size 14 and size 10/12)
3. Anything unique from Disney World
4. A couple sweaters to make a DIY sweater dress
5. A toy mystery box ( our Goodwill in Dayton sometimes put a bunch of toys together in a box and you can't see what is inside, it's usually 3.99.)
6. Backyard toys (including a kite, frisbee)

New Year Thrifting musings part 1

Happy 2014! 

This year will be what I consider my third full time year of thrifting.  Full time being thrifting 2 or 3 times a week year round.  Almost all my clothing, books, childrens toys, childrens clothing and home decor are found at our South East Tennessee Goodwills.

Years ago when we lived in NY and my eldest children were toddlers, I would thrift just as often at a Savers and a Salvation Army location.  This was mostly for ebay reselling and to outfit the kids in Gymboree and other great resellable brands.  I rarely bought for myself.  I could have, but was between sizes so often with pregnancy.

It wasn't until my last pregnancy in 2011 that I started turning to thrift with regularity.  I do still pick up items to hold for resell but my focus is more on now what we need and will use

What I'm Looking For- NOVEMBER 2013

Hope this month is a good one for my fellow thrifters!  Here is what I'm keeping my eyes out for.

3. Christmas decor (ornaments, lights, a tabletop tree)
4. Anything from Disney World or themed Disney's Gummi Bears
5. Avon jewelry from the 80's

What I'm Looking For: September 2013

Here is a new month and a new list.  The last few trips to Goodwills in our area haven't been big hauls.  We have been walking out with just 1 or 2 finds.  It all balances out when I see how many items I've found for our children and our home this year.  

The best find we found in August was a Super Nintendo system for $9.99.  My son was thrilled with that of course!

3. Books for everyone, hoping to fill in the Narnia books I'm missing

5. Anything to hold onto for Xmas, planning ahead this year, extra ahead!
6. Coats for all the boys
7. Dressers for me and my daughter
8. A nice toybox (plastic) for my youngest
9. Any outside play structures that I can use on the deck or backyard

July's "What I'm Looking For"

Been having a sweet time at the thrift so far this summer.  I've found shorts for summer for me and the kids, a modest trendy swimsuit for myself, and loads of kids books.  
Here is what I'm looking for for the month of July:

1. More books, especially kids books
2. Lightweight long sleeved tops
3. Jewelry
4. Anything Caillou for my toddler
5. Thomas the Tank Engine items
6. Great condition sneakers for my sons
7. Anything from the defunct theme park Magic World- mugs, postcard, ect.

What I'm Looking For- June

I've been lucky to check out another Goodwill with my family last week in Athens TN.  We bought a mirror (not sure what I'll be doing with it!) and manga books.  Tonight in Dayton, TN, I bought some stuffed toys for my sons (sonic the hedgehog and an angry bird) and got light washed distressed jeans for myself and sandals from Italy.  Not bad for $10.

Now for what I'm keeping my eyes open for:

1. Garbage Pail kids
2. Manga books
3. Thomas the tank trains
4. Step2 or Little Tykes outdoor play stuff

Since there is nothing clothing related I'm looking for, I'll just leave my list at this. :)

What I'm Looking For- May 2013

With my husbands new work hours, I'm not getting out to thrift or yard sale that often- (we are a 1 car household).  But that's alright since we are overflowing with things in our home.  My donations have tapered off and I'm saying to myself- "Ok, I'm good on shorts, don't need anymore Nintendo toys, enough with baby clothing".  I shopped on ebay a few times this week for fun and have to say it's a pleasure to search for good deals and have them shipped pretty fast.

So without further ado, my May list!

1. Sunglasses- I broke mine! Oops!
2. Boys swim trunks (size 10, size 7/8)
3. Garbage Pail kids- for me!
4. Check out the jewelry counters!
5. T-shirts/tops for myself
6. Flats or sandels

One of my favorite finds this year!

See what cool things you can find at the thrift!  This Thomas the Train ride on toy was 3.99 with working batteries.  The bottom needed to be dusted off good, looked like he'd been in a basement for awhile.  :)
I found this earlier this year, in the kids clothing section.  Some little person must have rode it over away from where the ride on toys are typically kept.  My 16 month old son loves it!

What I'm Looking For- APRIL 2013

Been spending most of our days spring cleaning.  I don't have the shopping bug as much now, seeing how much we already own.  So I'm a bit more mellow but still shopping at least 1x a week.  It's yard sale season again which is fun for finding less picked over items.

Here are a few things I'm keeping my eyes peeled for.
