Thrifty musings for the new month.

Wow, can't believe it's December already!  This time last year I was almost 9 months pregnant and waiting on my Christmas baby.  He was born December 26th at 7:45am, just missed Christmas.
I've had a great year thrifting.  80% of my maternity clothes were thrifted and 75% of the babies clothing has been thrifted.

One of my latest finds is this baby jacket from Le Top for 2.49.

Also picked up some cute clothing for my daughter.  The blue top is from Express 2.49.  The brick red top is Simply Vera 2.49.  And the black light weight coat w/o tag was 3.99.

Thrifting Holiday Decor

Is anyone else thrifting for holiday decorations?  I've been picking up things here and there.  I'm not done, but am a little nervous of going overboard.  There's ALOT of great things out there!

I bought a mixed lot of ornaments in a bag for 4.99.  Inside were plush snowman ornaments, large candy cane icicles, smaller red icicles, and pinecones with glitter.  The other ornaments from the bag I'm donating back.

My tree theme this year is Winter Wonderland.  I have up all my icicles and will keep an eye out for more snowmen, maybe some penguins!  Our star on top is also thrifted!

Donating back

Anyone else donating lately?  I've probably dropped 10 trash sized bags off since the start of 2012.  I've been donating smaller bags now, grocery sized, since it's been harder to let go now.
I had an awesome pair of grey heels in my closet, never worn, rounded toes, size 11.  Been holding on to them since I love the color grey.
These will find a good home- new with out tags/box- JCPennys
At the end of October, we all stopped in Goodwill to find a jacket for my husbands "Mulder" costume and I found a cute pair of grey heels in a size 10.  I will have to update this post with a photo!  Just very happy and excited to trade up to something more functional and hopefully someone will find my old unused pair and enjoy them!
Here they are- Nine West, with sweet black heels.

Goodwill Shoe Haul

Found 2 pairs of shoes this past week.  Love finding shoes in my size, womens 10.  Most of the shoes that catch my eye are an 8.  I'm used to disappointment when it comes to browsing the racks.  No letdown this week, 2 pairs to add to my closet.  Over the past 2 months I've donated several pairs of my own, nice to restock within something different and more affordable.

Pair number one are these by Nine West, great condition.

My second pair are by Naturalizer and are navy blue loafer style.  I used to wear shoes this style in high school, never had navy before though.

Belt Finds

Here are a couple belts I picked up on Sunday at Goodwill.  The green one is leather and has some wear to it.  The burgundy one is just perfect to me.  I'm not much of a belt wearer but I was inspired to start adding them to outfits.

Goodwill and 99 cents yellow tags

Went to the Goodwill in Cleveland, TN yesterday and they were having yellow tagged items for 99 cents.  I spent $5.05 and got some great goodies.  My husband spent around $12.00 on school books we'll be using with our homeschool work.

.

Didn't get anything from my wishlist, but found some fun items that we'll use.  For my daughter, I got an American Eagle l/s pink top.  For my boys, a green Gap l/s mock layered top and a denim button down (to put towards our Marty McFly costume).  I even picked up an ODIE plush with it's original tags from 1983.  What I was most excited to find was a vintage plaid top by Diane Von Furstenberg

Book Haul from the used book store!

Here are some of my finds at our local used book store Mckays.

I found great baby board books for 50 cents a piece.

I also found books for myself to read in for the end of June and July.  I'm reading The Green Mile and saving the movie for when I'm done.  My books were between $2-4 dollars each and the movie was $3.

This was 1/2 off $4.29, I got to take it home for $2.15!

Thrifting trip 6/11/12 Green Tags 1/2 off

I had a good Monday, fit in a thrifting trip by myself which gave me the chance to try a bunch of tops on.  When I take my kids with me or if we go with my husband, I usually rush and not feel as carefree.

Green tags were 50% off and there were many!  I stuck mostly to womens tops and then checked out the boys section for my son before getting on line to checkout.

Shopping by the sales tag is new to me.  I consider myself a long time thrifter, been shopping regularly for over 10 years at thrifts.  But I used to just buy what I wanted and without even trying things on.  Now, I'm not afraid to leave a good find there until it's tag goes on sale.  And I'm always happy to put something back that looked perfect but didn't fit well.  It can be disappointing but it's better than learning that after you've paid and brought it home.
